So, apparently, Insomniac has decided to replace Peter Parker with Miles Morales as "THE" Spider-Man: [Edit1:] I can't believe I have to add this, but please watch the whole video before commenting so we can all have an informed & honest discussion. How it started: "Miles isn't going to replace Peter. No one's replacing your heroes. Take off your tinfoil hats, you racist cis-white man-babies." How it's going: "Hell yeah, Miles should replace Peter! It's time for whitey to get out of the way- I mean, for Peter to finally retire. It's a mantle, because we say so. Anyone can wear the mask, bigot!" Funny how that works out. As for my personal feelings toward the issue: no, I don't think ditching Peter for Miles is a good idea. Not just because of the underlying reasons for them wanting to do it, but also because Miles Morales has nothing of substance going for him that would allow him to stand on his own. So I, like many other DA users, woke-up this morning to find that the site's mods and admins have retired the old DA layout in favor of the much criticized, extremely maligned, and overall unfinished "Eclipse" update being unceremoniously dropped onto us out of nowhere like an unwanted child. Couple that with a borderline insulting and poorly-timed "What Are You Grateful For?" community post, and this naturally hasn't gone over very well with the userbase, with the landslide majority demanding to return to the old format. Naturally, this has led to the creation of a Change.org petition for exactly that: http://chng.it/pJR4GkR4v2 As a longtime user and part-time creator, I felt the need to both sign and spread the word to anyone who's interested. I honestly don't know how much this will accomplish, given the site's apparent refusal to listen to it's users, but it's at least better than doing nothing at all.
